Fowler Youth Center is a place where our youth can go right after school and get the support services they need to be successful.
Services include: Homework help, Counseling (by Valley Youth House) and other recreational activities like Chess Club,
Aerobic Exercise, Martial Arts, Weight Lifting and Boxing.

CO-ED VOLLEYBALL AT GRINGS MILLS

— Get your game on this summer, at the volleyball courts of Gring’s Mill Recreation Area. Sign-up your team
for the Adult Co-Ed Volleyball League beginning May 26th, every Wednesday or Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Gather your team together and sign-up now! The Berks County Parks & Recreation
Department is accepting applications for Adult (15 years or older) Co-Ed Volleyball teams for its Summer Recreational League
at Gring’s Mill Recreation Area. Registration forms are due on Friday, May 7th. Play begins Wednesday, May
26th or Thursday, May 27thand runs through the Finals in mid-August. Teams play either in the Wednesday night league
or the Thursday night league. The entry fee per team is $60.00 and a forfeit deposit of $60.00 is due per team before
the first game. Each team pays a referee’s fee before each match. The official’s rate is $30.00/match
($15.00 each team.)
All levels of experience are encouraged to join this recreation
volleyball league. Teams will be limited to 6 people at all times, no more then 3 males on the court at one time.
Rosters will be limited to 16 people. U.S.V.B.A. rules with co-ed adaptations are enforced.

AN EVENING OF IRISH
MUSIC AT FONTHILL CASTLE
Featuring the Boys of County Bucks
DOYLESTOWN –Fonthill Castle presents its annual summer concert on the grounds
of the museum on Tuesday, July 27, from 7-8:30 p.m. “An Evening of Irish Music” will feature The Boys of County
Bucks, who will perform some of Fonthill owner, Henry Mercer’s favorite Celtic tunes.
The Boys of County Bucks play traditional Celtic music from Ireland, Scotland, Wales,
Canada and the US on fiddle, guitar, banjo, whistles, bodhrán in tight vocal harmonies. The group is comprised
of five current or former residents of Bucks County, PA: Blake Blakesley, who plays banjo, guitar and concertina, as well
as singing lead and backing vocals.
Gate
tickets for “An Evening of Irish Music” are $4 for adults, $2 for youth (ages 5-17) and member adults and free

Returns to Local Libraries in the
Greater Philadelphia Area for Summer 2010
PHILADELPHIA – Snow piles and icicles will soon melt away as spring weather arrives and summer nears.
With the warm weather, parents begin their search for ways to keep their child learning, while still having fun, over the
summer break. This year, look no further than your local library for a free and fun summer learning experience that
will open your child’s eyes to the wonders of science during GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer program.
GlaxoSmithKline and the American Association for the Advancement
of Science (AAAS) proudly announce the return of GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer program to libraries in Bucks,
Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. This free, educational program, now in its 24th year, is dedicated
to bringing the world of science to students entering 2nd through 6th grades. Offered at local libraries, GlaxoSmithKline’s
Science in the Summer introduces scientific concepts to all students through fun, hands-on activities. Taught by certified
teachers, this enrichment experience consists of four 45-60-minute classes given over the course of one week. Classes
and times vary by county and include Bioscience, Chemistry, Genetics, Oceanography and Physical Science/Electricity. Registration
for the program is limited and begins in April, with classes occurring in June, July and August. Please visit www.scienceinthesummer.com

has introduced over 100,000 Delaware Valley children to science.
