SITES OPEN THROUGHOUT
PHILADELPHIA
Don’t be fooled at tax time! Get your taxes done by certified community volunteers, trained to help you
receive your full credits and refunds -- fast and free.
From January 25 through April 15, 2010, eleven free tax sites will be open throughout
Philadelphia, offering e-filing, direct deposit,
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion and fairly-priced financial products to help you save money. The
sites are managed by The Campaign for Working Families.
The locations of the
Campaign’s free tax preparation sites are available on the website www.phillyfreetaxes.org or call 311.
Free tax preparation services are available to families who earned less than $50,000 in 2009 or if you
are single with an income under $25,000. You may qualify for a tax refund of up to $5,000.
Jean Hunt, executive director of The Campaign for Working Families, says “We can put money in your pocket.
In addition to filing your taxes, we can help you put some money aside in savings bonds or certificates of deposit, get a
low-fee prepaid debit card and open a checking or savings account. We also do financial student aid applications. All
of our services are designed to help working people improve their finances.”
The Campaign for Working Families operates free tax sites throughout Philadelphia and connects individuals to the federal
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), PA Tax Forgiveness, other tax credits, public benefits, and asset-building resources.
Over the past seven years, the Campaign has brought $124 million directly into the homes of low-income working families. For

Returns to Local Libraries in the
Greater Philadelphia Area for Summer 2010
PHILADELPHIA – Snow piles and icicles will soon melt away as spring weather arrives and summer nears.
With the warm weather, parents begin their search for ways to keep their child learning, while still having fun, over the
summer break. This year, look no further than your local library for a free and fun summer learning experience that
will open your child’s eyes to the wonders of science during GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer program.
GlaxoSmithKline and the American Association for the Advancement
of Science (AAAS) proudly announce the return of GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer program to libraries in Bucks,
Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. This free, educational program, now in its 24th year, is dedicated
to bringing the world of science to students entering 2nd through 6th grades. Offered at local libraries, GlaxoSmithKline’s
Science in the Summer introduces scientific concepts to all students through fun, hands-on activities. Taught by certified
teachers, this enrichment experience consists of four 45-60-minute classes given over the course of one week. Classes
and times vary by county and include Bioscience, Chemistry, Genetics, Oceanography and Physical Science/Electricity. Registration
for the program is limited and begins in April, with classes occurring in June, July and August. Please visit www.scienceinthesummer.com

has introduced over 100,000 Delaware Valley children to science.
